Santa’s words

Every word, before you pay

Here is everything Santa says, in order, with Niamh as the example. Two lines are written for each child from what you tell us; you read them and can change them before paying.

The whole script

  1. Santa’s sleigh swoops down and lands at the North PoleSanta, voice-overWhoa there, Rudolph! Gently does it… perfect landing!
  2. Santa, close upSanta, to cameraHo ho ho! Hello, Niamh!
  3. An elf hands Santa a letterSanta, to cameraAn elf has just brought me a letter… and it’s all about you!
  4. Santa opens the letter and reads itSanta, to cameraWritten for your childIt says you learned how to swim without armbands this summer! That takes real courage, Niamh. Rudolph’s still learning… he just splashes!
  5. Santa reads onSanta, to cameraWritten for your childAnd it says you’re a really kind big sister to your baby brother. That’s a very special job!
  6. An elf holds up a golden frame and your photo appearsSanta, voice-overAnd look, there’s a picture of you! Rudolph’s nose is glowing. He thinks you’re wonderful!
  7. Santa’s Nice ListSanta, voice-overNow then… let me check my Nice List.
  8. “Niamh” writes itself in gold, then a NICE! stampSanta, voice-overYes! There you are, Niamh!
  9. Santa, close upSanta, to cameraI’m so proud of you, Niamh. Merry Christmas!
  10. Santa waves and the sleigh takes offSanta, voice-overGoodbye for now! Come on, Rudolph, there’s lots to do! Ho ho ho!

Without a photo, the elf holds up a present instead: “And look, this present has your name on it! Rudolph’s nose is glowing. He thinks you’re wonderful!” With the bedtime goodbye ticked, Santa’s last line is: “Goodbye for now! Sleep tight on Christmas Eve, Niamh! Ho ho ho!”

The two personal lines

How Santa writes them

We draft the two lines from the details you give. These rules are built into the writing and checked again on the text you approve.

Only what you told us

No invented facts. If you say she learned to swim, Santa talks about swimming, not a race she won. A small, gentle joke when it fits.

Never a promise or a threat

Santa never promises a present, never mentions the naughty list, never says he’s been watching, and never makes his love depend on being good.

Short enough to say well

The first line is up to 28 words and the second up to 20, 42 in all, so Santa reads them at a gentle pace in his 18-second reading shot.

“It says…”

Santa reads from a letter an elf brings him, and it never says who wrote it. So it works whether or not your child wrote to Santa this year.

An elf hands Santa the letter

“An elf has just brought me a letter… and it’s all about you!” The same scene opens every reading.

Your child’s lines

Tell Santa what you’re proud of

A new skill, a kind moment, a brave first. Santa turns it into a line he reads to them, and you check it first.
